Focuses your efforts on improving child care, not on redundant development of software.
A Ready-to-use Online Application
The Youth Insight software consolidates data from social services, school districts, health agencies and other sources into a single web-browser-based application. The application provides straight forward search tools and displays of data such as placement history, immunizations, scholastic grades and attendance, and other information. Each user is prescribed specific access rights to specific groups of children based on jurisdiction, and may be further restricted from viewing certain data sets such as health or education, and in some cases even specific fields such as social security number, educational rights, etc. Each county controls its own users and access permissions.
What is SaaS?
The Youth Insight software is a hosted application. That is, instead of buying and installing software on your own computers, we install it on computers that we own and maintain. Your users use a web browser to log in and use the application. From the users perspective, it operates no differently than if you had installed it on your systems. However, from a cost, development, and maintenance perspective, there are significant advantages.
With Youth Insight, there’s no software to install, no updates to test, no security patches to manage, no machines to maintain and back up. There’s no projects for data exchange
mapping, and no interoperable web services to develop, install, and maintain. Youth Insight’s aggregation-based system requires no more than a couple days of time from a typical IT employee capable of writing data queries and scripting a file transfer between servers.
Using the SaaS model allows us to more effectively develop and deliver new capabilities. Each county can choose to provide access to social service agencies, school districts, juvenile court judges, probation, and others without the need for coordinating the installation of new versions and maintenance updates. Aggregated data in a centralized application saves everyone significant deployment and maintenance costs.
Security and Privacy
Of course, we recognize the sensitivity of this data, and both our physical installation, and the features of our software strive to provide best known practices for security and privacy protection. Our servers are located in a Tier III, SAS 70 Type II audited data center chosen after careful consideration of the security, reliability, and service of several top tier facilities. Our application software includes fine-grained control over exactly what each individual user is allowed to see and do within the application.
Data screens have open, easy-to-read layouts, and are organized into small data sets to keep information easy to locate.
The child search system provides several flexible ways to find a specific child quickly. Recently viewed children are remembered to avoid having to repeatedly search for the same child throughout the day.
This is a condensed view of how each user’s access rights are controlled. For each data area, several permissions can be granted or denied. You'll notice that even if a person is allowed to view child data, details as small as SSN may be denied.
